Maniac 2 AKA Mr. Robbie (1 Viewer)

I was straightening videos at work when I picked up the remastered VHS of Maniac. When I read "Promotional Footage of Maniac 2 AKA Mr. Robbie" I remembered watching that odd footage after the movie and all the trailers. So I'm curious: Was this a planned sequel that never got off the ground or what? I've never been able to find any info on it. Anybody out there know?

A promo/teaser trailer was shot, but the film itself never actually was. Joe Spinell died before it got off the ground.
