Star Wars series The Mandalorian is set to return to Disney+ on October 30. The streaming service’s first major series premiered in the fall of 2019 with eight episodes, and eight more will be released through December 18. Lucasfilm already announced plans for a third season whose production began in April.
The first live-action series in the Star Wars expanded universe, The Mandalorian takes place approximately five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, focusing on a bounty hunter named Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal, Game of Thrones) and his adventures beyond the reaches of the New Republic. Jon Favreau (the live action The Lion King), who served as showrunner for Season One, returns for the new season, and wrote or co-wrote six of the eight new episodes. He also directed the premiere.
