i recently upgraded one of my computers from 512mb of ram to 1gb and changed out my 4x and 2.4x dvd burners for two 16x burners and man what a difference.

everything runs so much faster now.

i tried to crash the system by burning 2 different dvd's at 12x, encoding another dvd, ripping a cd and web browsing all at the same time and the system did not crash. there was only one minor slow down.

at 12x you can burn a whole dvd-5 in 6.5 minutes! the burners are also capable of burning dual-layers at 4x. i haven't tried that yet but it says that it can do that in 27 minutes.

i am a happy camper.

Which DVD burners did you go with?

i got a really good deal on two optorite dd1601's. they are actually capable of burning at 16x. however to this point i have only been able to take some memorex 8x +r's and burn them at 12x.
