My social status would skyrocket to "GOD" for being SO generous :D

Seriously though, I see what you're saying.

I thought that only applies to crimes and not civil disputes? Not sure what crime he committed here, maybe perjury at most but what state is going to extradite over perjury? In essence the wife (if she is indeed) is left with civil remedies to pursue, first she's going to have to track him down, then serve a writ on him, etc etc. If he's really done a runner, good luck to her...

You read my mind. From what I heard he's due back in Canada by the end of this week and I'm sure he won't have $30 mil to his name.

If he's deposited the money into an off shore account, what are the chances of anyone suing him for any money outside of his holdings that he already had?

Aside from all the bad press, what he ends up doing with the money we can only speculate. I'm sure he took the last year working with lawyers and financial advisers on how to properly invest the money. I wouldn't be surprised if the current soon to be ex wife will get a settlement with the condition if she argues it, will make the contract null in void.

Also, if I recall correctly, most lottery winnings here in Canada are tax free, so he got ALL $30 mil.

If it had been me who won the $, at the press conference I would have told the reporters that I ain't sharing, cause if I was going to share, God would have made a nice person;)

Pretty much all lottery and casino winnings are tax free and payable in full the moment you show up to collect. No 20 year payout schemes unless you win one of those "Cash For Life" lotteries with the weekly payouts. The only tax you have to pay is on the interest gained on the original amount.

He might not have needed to change banks when he moved it offshore. There's a lot of Canadian banks in the Caribbean just as unreachable as the other banks. :)
