Everything seems to be quitting on me lately. My HK DVD 25 is not reacting to the remote, either it's own or the HK AVR 8000 remote. Also my Yamaha CDC 835 CD player does not recognize a disc. Are these problems repairable? Is it worth repairing? Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. Also I bought a JVC FS-SD7 shelf system from EBAY and after being on for a few seconds it shuts off. The only way to get it back to normal is unplug it then plug it back in. It will then shut off again in a few seconds.

Sounds like the electronics are your worst enemy. Have you used a laser lense cleaner on the Yamaha since you have had it? The HK might be a little more chalenging and and possibly not worth the fuss. The JVC might have a faulty transistor that keeps tripping the protection circuit. This is comon in the Mini-system stereos because many people are very hard on them. There is a also a possibility there is a short. You might try using the JVC speakers with some other piece of equipment to see if they are shorted. Do this at you own RISK! If the unit you test the speakers with lacks a protection circuit then you might damage the unit. there may be other ways to check the speaker for a short I am not sure.

    Hope this helps,
