I've been trying to get my Malata N996 back to life. It doesn't want to turn on. I've opened it up and checked the fuse on the inside, but it's good. No capacitors seem fried or anything and no discoloration on the board it self.

This comes as a surprise though, because of I haven't used the thing in the last 3 months. I did keep it plugged in, but that was it. It was always off, I never really watched much on it.

Is there any common parts that die on this thing, or do I have a pretty door stop now? I bought in in July of 2001 from AVDeals.com but I don't know if they still support it.

I'll be contacting them on tommorow.

AvDeals will not support dead/dying players past their 30-day return date. However, they'll give you the number for Malata Canada who will repair and return the player to you. I know this because mine just died and I'm sending it to Malata today. PM me if you need the details.
