Hello. I am looking to turn my old computer into a server. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to do this and what I need to download and what not. Any info would be greatly appreciate. Thanks a lot!

What are you intending to do with the 'server'?

It is mostly just an experiment for fun. I am going to try setting up a counter-strike server, and whatever else I can find. I am not going to be selling anything

Well, if you want to make a CounterStrike Server, go download the CounterStrike Server software, and follow the instructions for setting it up. I'm pretty sure the CS software can run on either Windows or Linux, so it's up to you how involved you want to get.

Figure out what you want to do with your server. I run a colocated email and webserver for my family. The instructions that I'd give you to set up something like that would be very different for a game server (which I've also setup, running Linux).
