Hello, everyone! I am looking to purchase a new television for my room that I mostly game, watch Netflix, and watch Blu-Ray movies on. My room isn't necessarily a home theater, but I thought this would be the best forum to ask on.
Anyway, this is the TV I wish to buy:

Checked it out at two different stores. Looked great, could've been a bit brighter though.
The room I plan to put this in is in a basement room with a small window(plan to use it at night anyway) and I guess average brightness in the room. I own this TV as of now:

Yup. That's why I said major upgrade. I have basically zero glare, so I think a plasma will be fine.
What do you guys think of the TV? I'm pretty satisfied with it myself, but just wanted to get some more opinions.

Any plasma is better than the best LCD(whether CCFL or LED).
That Samsung is one of the better plasma. Just make sure you buy a 2year warranty.
Google...
Samsung Capacitor issue
They keep adding years of qualifying TV to the lawsuit...cause Samsung cares not to fix the underlying $.35 problem(yes, 35 cents).

I also checked out this TV.

It is a lot a cheaper, but I'm a bit confused at to why it so much cheaper than the Samsung.
The reviews for both of these TV's both talk about the bad performance in lit rooms, and I'm starting to go back on my decision to go plasma.

The only time an LCD beats a plasma is when you have light coming directly in your window. Even the "top" LG/Sony/Samsung LCD lost their daylight advantage over plasma when they decided to change from a matte screen to a glossy one.
Point being. There are no, none, nada, zilch, no-where to be found perfect televisions on the market.
Plasma wins...
Black level
Viewing angle
Motion smoothness
Gaming(PS3/Xbox)
LCD wins...
Brightness
Computer gaming
Pick your poison.
