I can't believe that no one has put up a thread yet! I can't be the only one who saw the premier. I wanted to see what the HTF thought.

Well, I thought this first episode was kinda weak. Sci-Fi is trying to put a new spin on the "Survivor"-type reality show but it just seemed formulaic to me. A couple of challenges followed by a vote. Been there. Done that. There does seem to be some promise so let's hope it gets better.

The Alts (as in "alternative lifestyle") seem like a good mix but they just seemed too...nice. It's like they all want to be understood and respected instead trying to shock and push buttons on the "guests."

It's still too early to make judgements on the series yet. I guess I was just expecting someone to cry or freak out in the first episode. Even the Bible thumpers seemed to be gamers, to a point. I was thinking that someone would start tearing up like Tammy Faye Baker did on the "Surreal Life" when they went to a nudist camp. (Yes, I watch that show too.:b)

See, that's what I liked - especially being on right after Survivor, which seems to center around people being assholes to each other.

The last fifteen minutes or so were pretty annoying, though - cutting to commercial in mid-sentence is a cheap, amateurish way to try and build suspense, and it seemed like what they were talking about in the deliberation session had little to do with they way they handed out the necklaces.

I wish they'd avoid the game type events like the blood pool. I thought that was particularly weak. I hope they focus mroe on the dynamics between the "Norms" and "Alts" and leave the game situations behind.
