Hope you have better luck with the keyboard, Ron. Even though it's listed as "quieter" the jury is still out as to whether or not this v3 of the quiet keyboard fixes what ailed users of the v1 and v2 of the keyboard.

Ron, I was going to say that you got your 32GB of RAM after all. The pundits seemed to think that option was unlikely.

As you are aware, I am a victim of "keygate" (or whatever they are calling it) whereas my period key doubles characters when pressed.

I was not very happy to learn Apple is going with the same butterfly design, though in a third-generation iteration.

However, I am not worried. The present keyboard issue was a huge embarrassment to Apple. Should this happen with the 2018 models, I am certain that Apple will take care of the issue. There would be such an outcry from people that already don't trust that this new keyboard will fix the issues.

My laptop shipped. I will have it Monday.

The new keyboard features a silicone barrier over the switch. Check out this ifixit teardown.

Wow, Ron, this looks like it hit everything you wanted in the upgrade! Cannot wait to hear your thoughts next week.
And yes, I may be just a wee bit jealous! :thumbs-up-smiley:

The upgrade to 4 TB of SSD space accounts for almost half of that price.

It seems to me that a compact, bus driven external SSD for extra media storage would make a lot more sense, be more flexible, and would save a thousand or two $

OK, yeah, now I actually looked it up. Paying an extra $2,000 just to go from 2TB to 4TB is simply stupid. $1,200 to go from 512 to 2TB is still absurd. Something makes me doubt he's actually paying for it, or just likes to think he's being impressive.

You guys are very kind. Thanks for the well wishes.

Been doing a lot of reading on the new i9 vs. i7 processor.

Seems that I may have done the wrong thing going with the i9. The i7 processor will most likely be faster for the things I do.

Ron, I'm curious what you're referring to? I may upgrade (my MBP was a top of the line 2015 so it's still running strong) and I usually top the machine out (in terms of CPU) but if the i7 is perferable to the i9 that would save some money on the build!
