A major UFA production from the Nazi era. Should have very interesting color, as it was shot on Agfa.

Great film and I do have the 2004 Kino dvd release so this will be a nice upgrade. Nazi director of propaganda Joseph Goebbels wanted a big production to celebrate UFA studio's 25th anniversary so he chosen the Munchhausen story.

Never expected this to get a Blu-ray. The Kino DVD from the earlier Murnau Foundation restoration looks quite nice, so I'd imagine the new 2K looks stunning. The German AGFA stock has a truly unique look to it compared to Technicolor of the time.

For those concerned with the fact it was made in the late Nazi era, you'd never guess it was made at such a time. There's no blatant propaganda like some of the more notorious productions around that time like Titanic. It'll be fun watching this alongside Criterion's edition of Karel Zeman's The Fabulous Baron Munchausen (coming out in February) and Terry Gilliam's film.

Oh... "TINTS!" I had something else in my brain that caused me to misread that. ;)
