Sad indeed. I remember her as "The Chief" on PBS' kids' game show Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? in the early-mid 90s. I used to love that show. I was shocked when I first heard the news of her passing yesterday.

Scott_J, that goes ditto for me. I thought she was a wonderful character actress and she will be missed.

She was involved in several favorites of mine:
"FM" (1989) TV Series .... Naomi Sayers
Streets of Fire (1984) .... Subway motorwoman
Warriors, The (1979) .... Radio deejay

You may remember the closeup of her mouth and the microphone in The Warriors. Quentin Tarintino certainly did, he copied the shot in Pulp Fiction with Uma and the security system.

She was also an accomplished stage actress with an imposing presence and a genuine warmth. I was fortunate enough to see her performance in Jar the Floor, which I believe was her last major stage work, and I will always remember it.

Yes, indeed her voice helped set the tone for that film.

Going off the IMDB information, she was only 54. A tragic loss indeed.
