    Blimey, I pop out to grab a sandwich and a RAF jet whizzes overhead.

    God knows what it'll be like tomorrow.

    Not entirely sure that blowing plane up over London will be much less devistating than it crashing into the city, frankly...

    And here I was thinking that you'd had lunch with Robert A. Fowkes. [IMG]

    Well, I knew it couldn't have been RAF because he is very much here in the U.S. of A. But I thought of Mr. Fowkes when I read this thread's title. However, I noticed the thread was started by Theo, and figured he must be talking about the Royal Air Force. So, Theo, was that a Harrier jumpjet that flew overhead?

    Didn't see it - just heard it...
    How odd, I'd not thought that RAF would have any other connotation!! [IMG]

    Argh, I really don't want to spend 9/11 in a high school filled with (mostly) ignorant, uncaring, cynical punks.

    I've always thought it funny that the UK's version of the US's Department of Defense is the UK MOD, aka the Ministry of Defense. What-do the generals walk around with bibles?
    Perhaps I'll be quiet now considering I work for the MOD (and the RAF) indirectly. [IMG]

    [IMG] I work in the defense industry and my particular project is the UK Tornado platform so I get to deal with the UK MOD for requirements and the like and also the military people at various RAF air force bases over there across the pond. As I am mostly on the technical side of the work, I don't deal with them directly all the time but they do send over folks for meetings and stuff and only then I get to chat with them on life over there and stuff.

    Isn't it spelled defence and not defense over in England? Maybe I'm hallucinating it, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that that's how it's spelled there.

    Stephen A,

    England and Canada = Defence
    US = Defense

    Cheers!
