I was at a garage sale picked up an old pair of speakers with an amp n tape deck for $15 bucks (sony stuff, more than 15 years old I think) One sub is 45 Watts the other has been replaced and is 50 Watts. Im thinking taking out the subs and building some of my own speakers, is there any use in using them at all??

Well, it sounds to me that you're not talking about subwoofers,
so I assume that these would be woofers. Another thing that
springs to mind is that this sounds like a very old Sony shelf
or floor system. I want to know if the receiver/amp your
talking about is four-channel or just two-channel with outputs
for four speakers…If it’s actually four-channel, it could be
useful or just worth more than you paid for it. Oh, and about
uses, well, all I can say is go ahead and fiddle around, vintage
speakers can be pretty good if ya' mess around a bit, just be
careful not to destroy them.

I have a LOT of old speakers lying around and I'm thinking of
experimenting as well...Just for fun. :)

Note: I wouldn't suggest that you try and use the old woofers
as subwoofers in a home-theater situation because there's a
really good chance you'll destroy them that way.

Yes I did mean woofers. The amp is 140W with A and B speaker inputs left and right. Don't know if it's 4 channel or two channel with four speaker inputs. Im thinking the cabinets for the speakers might be the most use. Just put a better woofer and tweeter in and change the terminal.
