    Hello,
I am looking to buy a new TV and want 16:9 about 34 inch
diagonal. My research so far points to the Panasonic
CT-34WX50 (feel free to suggest others with a better
price value point) and I see the lowest price of around
$2,200, however, all the sites that have it at the low
price are out of stock. I bought one on Dec 15th but
they are still out of stock so I canceled it from
    http://www.consumer-direct.com/detai...artno=CT34WX50
for $2,300 less 3% ebates discount plus low $128 shipping
cross country for $2,360 total to curb.
Anybody know why there is this shortage of Pana CT-34WX50s
    for low price online stores?
Is there an alternative I should be considering? I can't
really go above about 34" due to room constraints. We
generally watch TV at night with low light at a distance
of about 12'. We watch lots of DVDs (widescreen) and
    Dish network PVR system.
Thanks for any and all advice! [IMG]

From what I hear, there is a new model coming out. Check the Pani website to see if its there. Anyway, I hear it may have firewire and a HD tuner. I know Toshiba makes a good 34" also. 34HF81. I guess it's quite good. Sony makes one too but its way more expensive but looks awesome and does include a HD tuner. 34XBR2 I believe.

I figured on not getting a HD tuner at this point
so save money thinking that they will come down in
price, plus not lots of HD content yet, but in the
mean time I would benefit from a better TV.
I will check out the Toshiba set, I wasn't considering
Sony due to the HD inclusion that makes it cost a lot
    more.
    I looked at:
    http://www.panasonic.com/consumer_el...tv/default.asp
and couldn't find anything about upcoming models coming out
only already released ones (other than option to sign up
for email notification for product updates).
    Thanks for the info.

I recently got a panny 34wx50 from good guys here in california. They are cutting the panasonic line so all panasonic stuff is on clearance. Nate,
The web site www.bestpricevideo.com didn't work for me.
    Could the exact site please?
Also, on the Good Guys, they said over phone they
had an Open Box 34wx50 for $2,300 firm in San Jose.
Which Store did you go to? How long ago? Was the
price exactly $2,000? Was your's an Open Box?
    Thanks.

I just got one from Sears. It's gonna be delivered Wednesday.
I went to this page at BestBuy.com and printed it out with their $2299.99 price. BB is out of stock on it.
I took the printout to Sears, who have stock on it "on sale" for $2799.99, and handed them the page and asked for a pricematch. I claimed BB had stock on the model.
She rang it up, no-muss and no-fuss. They have a pricematch policy, and this is in-bounds for it. I charged it to my Master Card Platinum, and walked out 5 minutes after walking in.
    Good luck!

    Willam,

I ordered the Panasonic 34" in December. They told me it was on backorder and they did not think they would ever come back in stock. Today I received a shipping conformation, unfortunately I just bought a 36" Toshiba HDTV last week. I thought the order would never be filled and I forgot to manually cancel the order and now its too late. If you are interested I'd sell it, it's still sealed, new. I paid $2406 for it total. I live in New England, RI to be exact. Let me know if you're interested.

    Thanks!

    Jay

My set arrived today...works great! A recap of the purchase (with a few more details) and pictures of it in my living room here.
Thanks to this section of the HTF for all the advice that led me to this item! It looks great, and is just what I need right now.
    The perfect "starter widescreen set".
