Is the low pass and high pass filtering necessary if a crossover is being used? I am think about using an AVA 250 amp to drive a shiva.

Any comments? Is there a better amp for the $$$ out there?

Also is there any year end sales that are too good to be true?

No. If your receiver or other x-over is being used, you actually want to bypass the sub's if possible. High pass is only used if you are feeding the mains from the sub's outputs.
