Dang, people I used to watch on TV all the time are leaving us at an alarming rate lately.

I'm too young to have to have watched Louis Nye on the Steve Allen show, but I definitely remember his wonderful "Sonny Drysdale" on the Hillbillies as well as guest shots on other shows including multiple "Curb Your Enthusiasm" episodes over the first several seasons. He played Jeff Greene's dad.

Louis Nye died Sunday of lung cancer. This article says he was 92 although most bios I've seen of him have him almost a decade younger. A posting in the obituaries newsgroup from Jim Beaver (who knew Louis) confirms he was past 90.

He never had many lines on CYE, but his facial expressions and background actions were priceless.
