I recently got a new Reciever (TX SR600)

And as in most recievers I can input video form many sources.

My Sat. input into the reciever will be only S-video, but output to the TV will be Component.

Will the reciever upgrade the S-video signal to Compontent. Not that I would notice the difference if it did. I'm just curiose.

Nope. Only a few receivers will do this and they tend to be the flagship models.

There is no advantage to running video through the receiver unless you have 2 or more of the same type of video. (2 SVideo, 2 Component, etc.)

I usually suggest running component cables straight to the TV for your one good component video, and running SVideo from all devices through the receiver, then SVideo from the receiver to the TV.

Leaving the TV seeing the SVideo feed from the receiver makes the system easy to use for the family. But for serious HD/DVD watching, you take the extra step and flip to the Component feed for the better quality signal.

    Hope this helps.
