Are there plans to release, an EE LOTR "box set"?
I have not heard of any such plans yet but the 3 boxes that will be available (green, brown & blue?) will make a nice set anyway.
I'm assuming that since they are releasing a Theatrical Versions box set on May 25, that they will release an EE box set when the ROTK: EE comes out.
I doubt it. That Theatrical box set is crap and given the price of the Extended Editions and their overall size, an EE box set would be a bit hefty for consumers.
You guys are so lame. The theatrical editions are nowhere near "crap". I bet you were not thinking, that the movie was a peice of crap while you were watching it in the theater. I bet you were not thinking that the EE's better be SO much better. And after all, it was the theatrical editions that won all those Oscars. I'm getting the theatrical edition box set, and I'm going to enojoy them immensely.
Joshua Lane: I'd wager he was talking about the box itself and not the films. That box set art can best be described as - "Jack Ryan Collection-esque"; it's quite simply ugly (simple & ugly, actually) and doesn't really do the contents justice.
The box set is indeed crap! It’s just an outer cover on the 3 original DVDs. The art is ugly too! We already have the 3 2-disc sets so why bother! Update: Oooopsss! We don’t have ROTK yet but soon we will!
I am content with my EX ED dvds so I won't bother with this
Well, all 3 EE's might be offered in one package but there will be no additional material of any kind - New Line isn't going to double dip this soon. PJ has stated we won't see anything for at least a few years. He has talked about wanting to do the "ultimate mega super duper" LOTR box set with new material and special features when it can be done in high definition (HD-DVD) - he sounds like he's a big proponent of this. A LOTR Box Set would be a perfect launch title for HD-DVD!
H*ll yes it would!
I think the box looks classy. And why not have it in one convenient package, for those of us that never got around to buying the movies individually?
Well, if you have not bought the movies yet, yes it would be easier and cheaper to buy all 3 in that one box set! You can simply throw away the outer box later! And how could you be so defensive when you have not bought the movies yourself! We already had/have them when we said that!
