I know this has already been mentioned in the TTT:EE and ROTK discussion thread, but it would be lame to assume that everyone interested in this announcemnet would be reading the spoiler thread.

December is going to be a great month for going to the movies!

    look here!

    Cool![IMG]

I wonder though if they'll preserve the disc break/intermission for the theatrical release.

And won't the theatrical TTT:EE showings conflict with the DVD sales?

I'm in! We'll need some good coffee but it would be great to see both back to back in the theater again!

So does anyone know how to find out where these will be playing?

I'm not sure where to find out. It is possible that it hasn't been totally worked out yet.

I love the idea of seeing all three in the same day in the theater, but I'm not sure if I want my very first viewing of ROTK to be after having just watched 7 hours of film. I'll probably have to do it though. Ultimatel, I think it will be an amazing experience. Everyone in the audience would have to be a die-hard fan of the films to do the marathon.

Sounds kinda cool in a way, but it would be hard to justify paying all that money to spend all afternoon and evening in the theater when I have the DVDs at home.

Another issue is that the viewing of ROTK will not be the extended edition, but the theatrical cut. So is there any chance of ROTK reing rereleased in the theatrical cut?

I just read this at TORN and came over to find the thread I knew would exist about it. Some of the HTF people have giant screens, but I don't! I am totally going to drive to wherever I have to go to see FOTR on the big screen again! And the EE to boot!!

Yes, Dave. While many here have better sound at home than most theaters and even an average HD-ready RPTV with a progressive scan DVD player can look "cleaner" and show more detail (even at the lower resolution) that most commercial theaters, there is still something about the experience of a special film on the big screen with an audience that is difficult to duplicate at home.

I figure I'll have my whole life (hopefully) to enjoy these films in my home theater (in whatever forum that may be over the years). But there will be only one chance to see a marathon of these films in a theater like this. I'm not sure I can pass that up.

As I previously mentioned in the LOTR thread, I'll be passing on the viewing marathon unless the ROTK version being shown in the theater is the EE version. I like to keep my version viewings consistent. [IMG]

    And as I sit here, I wonder..."What am I doing December 16th..."

Very tempting to go see all three Lord of the Rings back to back to back...the question is...can I take 10 hours of LOTR?

While it's a really cool idea, I really can't justify the cost to myself. I will, however, be popping in my FOTR:EE and TTT:EE discs before heading out for Return of the King.

One assumes we'll get it in New Zealand.
They are our films, after all.

And probably at the Embassy, home of the ROTK premiere.

Wow, that's one helluva Middle-Earth Marathon!

I haven't decided if I'll be taking in the "full day" experience, but I would like to see each of the Extended Editions on the big screen!

    Smart move, New Line.
