    Dan,
Try this site out. It is listed on the HTF links page. You may have to check the store sites individually because the prices may be lower than the pricesearch site is showing, i.e. Best Buy is $53.99 w/ free shipping. Hope this helps.

Stupid question. . .can anyone verify that the included bookends are actually bookends and not just statuettes?

I know, I know. . .I don't really need the National Geographic disc, but I actually DO need a pair of bookends!

Hm, that's the first I've ever heard about the movie ticket. But that's cool too. [IMG]
Anyone have any idea whether Best Buy or Target or anyone will have a loss leader on this? I need to pick up a couple (don't you wish you were on my Xmas present list?) and would sure like to save a few bucks.

I don't expect it to be less than $54.99 in B&M's.

I pre-ordered this from Amazon. I think it was $48 and some change (I had a coupon)

I've never pre-ordered from Amazon before, when will I get this? I used regular shipping, not the super saver.

    thanks.

Steve, Amazon usually ships my stuff the day of release or a day after. I haven't had them ship early in years.

I also am wondering about the movie ticket and preorders. I would prefer to just go to Costco on the 12th and pick it up but will they have the movie ticket with them? I don't want to wait 3 or 4 days for it to be shipped. [IMG]

I got an email back from Costco.com and they said that the movie ticket only comes with the preorders. So just made my preorder. [IMG]
I hope nothing happens to the bookends during shipping.

Just for everyone's info, apparently the same 4-disc set WITHOUT the bookends/dvd-ends/statuettes is also going to be available. My wife (who doesn't know about all of the online price-comparisons and also can't keep a secret to save her life) has pre-ordered me that set from Amazon for like $25 as a birthday present.
Might be a way to save some cash if you just want the extended version of the film and can hold your own books up.
dvdpricesearch.com shows this as "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Director's Cut)", and by all descriptions I've read, it sounds like the same release as the Collector's Edition, sans bookends.

Yes, that is indeed the same as the DVD in the 5-disc set.
Oh boy, my 5-disc set just shipped from a certain online retailer (along with Episode II). Boy, are their prices ever discounted deeply! [IMG]

I just got a shipping notice for it today as well. If I had thought it would ship this early, i might have forked over a little extra for next day delivery. Man is this the best buy of the year for me [IMG]

I'm sure there are many others like me who procrastinated until the last moment to order the 5-Disc Collector's Edition. Fortunately, at www.bestbuy.com, when you place the Collector's Edition in your cart, the total will now list for $49.99. Obviously, this will be the sale price of this dvd upon its release at the store.
To further save, you can apply the ubiquitous $2 off any dvd $19.99 and up Netflix coupon found at any Best Buy store to you total. So, the final tally for the Collector's Edition will be $47.99 + tax. This will be reduced further if you saved your UPC code along with the receipt from your original LOTR 2-disc version.
In other words, the final outlay should be around $37.99 + tax.
BTW...the 4-disc EE is now priced at $24.99, or $22.99 if you apply the Netflix coupon. Or a final of $17.99 if you mail in for the $5 rebate.
