Just read at reel.com that MGM is going to allow New Line Cimena to use the name Goldmemeber for Austin Powers 3. If true im glad, the name is cool for a Austin Powers movie.

I read the title will be "Austin Powers in Goldmember" I don't see what the point is, though.

    1. Why doesn't MGM just let them call it "Goldmember"?

    2. Why would anybody go to see the silly thing, anyway?

I just think the whole contreversy was Silly. If in fact MGM will let them use "Goldmemeber" as a title then what was the whole point. In my opinion it just made MGM look dumb.Letting New Line Cinema use "Goldmember" is not going to make me think anything less of "Goldfinger" or will I confuse the movies for the similarity.

I am really glad they let them use the title! At this point, Austin Powers movies are so much more fun than any James Bond movie to come out in the last, what? 25 years already?? Last I checked, Never say Never again & View to a Kill both sucked!
And I really despised all of the Timothy Dalton movies...and the only "decent" Pierce Brosnan film was Tomorrow Never Dies...and that was because of Michelle Yeoh!! [IMG]

We've recently recieved trailers in our cinema for

    "Austin Powers III"

    to replace the withdrawn

    "Austin Powers: Goldmember"

    ones.

So I guess I should appropriate those "Part III" trailers now and stick my "Goldmember" back in!

Cees- You're more right than you know.
I've read on several sites that MGM will allow New Line to use Goldmember - in exchange for which New Line will tack the trailer for Die Another Day on the prints of both Goldmember AND The Two Towers.
...better be a good trailer. [IMG]
