Looking for widescreen TV: help please (1 Viewer)

I'd like to pick up a widescreen TV that will fit in a 38 1/2 by 32 1/2 opening in my entertainment center. I was looking at dimensions on Toshibas website and it said measurement were taken diagonally, but I thought the only diagonal measurements was the screen size? Please help me out.

actually remeasure and its 32 1/2 high and 40 width, so disregard my original measurements.

The toshiba or sony widescreen models, both 34in. But both are 24-29 in deep! Samsung also has a 30in widescreen out now for about 1200!
When determining the width of the set, on a 16:9 set, the width is very close to the diagonal measurement

Not sure I would risk trusting a Samsung product ?? I have seen there HD sets and they are very disapointing. I have also heard from salespeople that Samsung has poor build quality.
