What's out there? I've found the Acoustic Research "phantom" line, wondering if there's anything else?

    Hi,
Out of curiousity, what is the application? Why the depth requirement? Maybe the "think tank" that is this site could help you find an alternative that doesn't limit the size of the center channel.

The base of Infinity's Entra Center is 4.5" (before the bezel which tapers up). The full depth without grill is about 5.5" and 6" with the grill.

As this is for a simple living room HT and not our future basement all-out-awesome HT, I actually looked into the Bose VCS-10 but couldn't bring myself to even consider it after reading 20 negative and 0 positive reviews. [IMG]

It's not as small as 4" in depth, but the Mission M7C1 is a rather good looking slender center, compared to most others in its price range. It also isn't plagued with the thin sound you get from most of the tiny centers on the market and is therefore suitable for a larger room than those small systems are. The matching bookshelves are also reasonably priced and good sounding.
    You can probably buy it for less than $250.00 (Canadian). It's 5.25"h X 5"d X 20"w.
Below is the URL to Mission's site. Go to the M70 series.

    Randy,
I think you should strongly consider your first choice.
The AR Phantom Series is a VERY high quality component
speaker set. The drivers are Carbon Fiber cone's MFD'd
by DynAudio and the enclosures are aluminum (the insides
are sprayed with neoprene so they are anti-resonant)
Also check out the AR4C.. I have one and love it.. I
will measure the depth if you want me to.. But it's
not silver so it's not going to match your Scentium
if that is a major concern.. The AR4C is part of the
Hi-Res line which is a lateral move to the Phantom
Series, they are both equaly Hi End.. (IMHO)

The Infinity Entra Center is out - I went to look at it and the cloth grill isn't black, it's PURPLE... kind of clashes with my room [IMG]
I actually owned the Acoustic Research Phantom setup about a year ago and liked it a lot. The 252C is high on my list right now.
Other choices I've seen are the centers from the Polk RM series. They're all compact and thin, and seem to garner excellent reviews as well. But the woofers aren't nearly as big as a 'real' center channel.
Ideally I'd like to find a set of in-wall speakers to match this center channel. Acoustic Research doesn't make in-walls, and Polk's don't seem to match the same tweeter as in the RM series to anything else. So I'll keep looking [IMG]

The grill of the Entra Center is definitely supposed to be black! The Interlude series has different grill colors available and maybe a blue grill from an IL25c was on the Entra speaker by mistake.
Besides, the speaker is just gorgeous without the grill!
