My current Front Projector (Epson 8350 UB) lost its only remaining HDMI input this weekend. The first one went out last summer after a lightning strike. Anyway, the FP is out of warranty and I'm reasonably certain that it is going to be pretty expensive to replace the input board or whatever it takes to get it working again when compared to the cost of an entry level FP.

Currently considering a Panasonic PT-AR100U, a Sony VPL-HW40ES, or possibly going back to something around 60" in a plasma display. (I'm kind of tired of the cost of replacement lamps, but I do love the big screen image.) I need a decent vertical lens shift and at least a 1.6 zoom which eliminates some of the less expensive DLP units.

I had some bulb issues with the 8350 so I'm not really sold on another Epson despite really liking all other aspects of the 8350.

Any suggestions?

Give up television and film to save money for instance. :)

- Walter.
