I am looking for a pc-case for my new HTPC.
It has to look like an hifi-component.
I already found several pc-cases (ie. DIGN) that are advertised as being ideal for HTPC, but they aren't what I'm looking for.
I need the front-plate of the case to be flat (no curved surface or ridges...) and about 10cm high.

I am already checking if I can take a desktop-pc-case and make a custom front-plate for it.

Does anyone have any suggestions or a link to a site showing me how to build it myself?

    Thanks, Belgarath

Belgarath.....first of all, I love the name. Eddings?

Anyway, sounds like you're looking for a small form factor case, in addition to the aesthetic requirements. Have you looked into the Shuttle cases? Check out the SFF forum at forums.sudian.com and look around

    Good luck!

Some guys on AVS did a cutsom run of AV style cases. I personally have opted for a rack mount server case with a plain back face- works great. Although mine is a bit bigger than your 10cm.

I think 10cm high is a bit unrealistic: that's less than 4 inches which is really too small to cool without seriously loud fans (have you ever seen/heard 1-2 space rack server cases? They're 3 feet deep and loud as a chainsaw! Those also often have custom power supplies in order to work.)

    I love David Eddings!!!
    Do you mean the Shuttle-cubes?
They are very nice (I read the story from the guy who modded one with a LCD-screen), but it is not big enough for what I want to do with it.
