I have been looking at the SACD players for a while now to replace my existing player. Does any one have any recommendations on Brands? I am trying to stay below $300. I have seen the Sony SCD-CE775 and a JVC model. Any thoughts from the SACD owners out there?

One other question...I am new to these players, will the still play regular CDs? It will take me sometime to replace the many regulars I have.

the ce775 is a good entry level SACD player, for $50 more you could get the 222es, (better build and 5 years warranty).[IMG]

James, first, all SACD players play CDs. Second, JVC has not yet made an SACD player. Perhaps you meant some other brand. Anyway, the 'CE775 is a quality player, but it has been discontinued, so new units are hard to find. Anthony was right in recommending the 'C222ES, as it is a better player than the 'CE775, in terms of sound quality, build quality, and warranty coverage. The 'C222ES is still in production, and you should be able to get one new for around $350 from OneCall (1-800-340-4770), J&R Music World (1-800-221-8180), or Oade Bros. (1-229-228-0093 or 1-228-229-4480). All three are authorized Sony dealers.

If you are willing to pay upto $300.00, add $50.00 and get 222ES - it's a fantastic player! I got mine from Oade for $350.00 shipped (double-boxed).

    Best wishes,

    Jigesh

I haven't heard the sony but I'm sure its great. But you might also want to look at the phillips 963sa.Its a good sacd player but also a fantastic cd player, with 2 modes of upsampling.IMO its more than worth the cost just as a cd player. And you get sacd and dvd as a bonus.Again, just my opinion...
