Due to my limitation of cutting down trees in my yard (I rent), I am unable to get either DirectTV or Dish, but want to start using my HD Monitor to its full potential by getting a OTA receiver.
I was wondering what the best HD decoder on the market is? I've seen the Toshiba HST-3000 at Best Buy. Do I need to have a DirectTV account and signal for that to work. Are there any standalone units?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

I hear good things about the Samsung SIR-T150. This is an OTA-only receiver. It sells for around $550, but there is a $100 rebate from Samsung available. It's available from:
    www.jandr.com (if they're open again yet) www.abtelectronics.com
