My 4 year old Panasonic is dying and I'd like to replace it with a player with a great reputation for image quality for less that $300. Progressive Scan isn't important to me at this point.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

If you're happy with Panasonic, the RV-31 and RA-60 are both outstanding interlaced players (the RA-60 is slightly better than the RV-31)

    Jack:

The Sony 700 is winning kudos in the magazines and on the Internet--that little prog-scan machine is outperforming some of the megabuck superstars of the past year or so. It originally listed for $350, but Sony has since reduced that to $299 (because of a competitive retaliation by Toshiba). That means you should easily be able to find it for $250 or less.

If I were in the market right this moment, that's the machine I would get--and I would retire my much more expensive current machine to bedroom duty.
