Looking for Amp (and Sub); Large Room; Klipschorns
Hello From New Orleans:

Upgrading to an Outlaw 990 preamp/processor. Not sure which amps yet (I think tube amps might be $2-3K, so can't afford McIntosh 240's or others quite yet.) I have an old, but clean sounding Adcom GFA 535. Thinking about Outlaw amps, due to good reviews and good experience with their 1050. Have Klipsch Klipschorn folded Horn Mains, Academy center, Heresy's or LaScala's for rear (5.1). I do not need much power; but the amp needs to be clean. Not sure I can afford pure Class A solid state either. Hope to keep cost down to $1000 plus range.
Room size is big, like a mono room apt: about 16 x 40 with a sloping roof, 12 ft ave height, about 7200 ft3. Audio/den/HT area is about 16 x 16. As for the sub, I called ACI, SVS, and HSU. They all said I need a big sub. Klipsch and Outlaw thought smaller subs would be ok as my mains are K horns, but I may not have told them the room ft3 size.

Nice set of speakers you got there. Look at the Emotiva amps http://emotiva.com/amplifiers.html there's reviews at www.audioholics.com I'm not sure if you find anything cheaper than that without sacrificing quality. I'm sure the Outlaw amps are good too.

One other bang-for-the-buck place to check out for subs is Elemental Designs http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/index.php?cPath=2_41 They won't get points for looks but they sound good and are very competitive price-wise.
