I am about to adventure into the world of HDTV, and I was wondering what TV will give me the best picture for under $2200. I am leaning towards a tube TV as apposed to a projection, and I think I like the Sony KV-36XBR800, but this is only from what I've read, but part of me wants a widescreen. Thanks.

    I'd go widescreen.
    4x3 if you're a gamer..but I'm a gamer and still going RPTV widescreen.

I couldn't recommend a 4:3 set, since we're in the transitional period where more and more material is coming in the widescreen format. Unless you have "special needs" (i.e. you're mostly interested in watching TV reruns or only watch classic, narrow-screen movies) I'd definitely go widescreen in that price range.

What about the RCA 38310 16x9 tube for $1599 with built in HD Directv Reciever. I know there were problems with the 38300, Have those problems been taken care of?
