I've been planning on purchasing the Outlaw 1050, but was wondering if anybody thought another receiver is better for the price, whic is around $550 shipped?

Perhaps the Denon 2802 which goes for $550 including shipping. It has PL2 and support all 6.1 formats. It also has a bit more wattage. If PL2 is not a critical feature though, the Outlaw is a good choice.

I would never buy a receiver without a phono stage, and you would have to give me a very good reason to buy one without Dolby PL2. I guess that eliminates the 1050.
