Check into the Iscan. Dvdo product (Silicon Image), pretty much the best bang for minimal bucks- only doubles, but does a decent job.
There have been 3 versions, V1, V2 and the Iscan Pro. Each has different features and chipsets-- might do some searching here and on AVS for gory details on each. I had a V2, and it would detect film sources and did 3-2 pulldown.

Wow, that's a bit more expensive than I was hoping for. [IMG]
I can justify that kind of cost to my S/O if I build one myself. I am going to buy a SiI504 chip, but I need an RGB to ITU-R BT.656 video decoder. The only video decoders that I can find only accept SVideo, composite and YPrPb inputs and not RGB.
Since my projector uses RGB, I need RGB.
Anyone know of an IC that does RGB to ITU-R BT.656?
    Thanks!

Wow, the Iscan is super cheap. I have never seen anyone see the ISCAN as too expensive (it was an absolute breakthrough when it was introduced, as it was $800 less than anything else).

You might try the used market, I have seen the Iscan V2 sell for $300.

I've already looked at ebay. Know of a better place to look?

Besides, I'm still interested in building my own. Anyone know of an IC or ADC that converts RGB -> ITU-R BT.656?

Try posting about this on the DIY/Advanced board-- this type of question isn't too suited for the basics area. If no one on here can help- AVS forum might have a few tweakers that can help you.
