Well, i'm finally ready to leave behind the world of 5.1 and enter the world of 7.1, however I will only have about $300 to spend on the new reciever, I may be able to go as high as $350, i'll have to see.

Are their any models that you can recommend for that price? Thanks.

While not a power monster. The Pionner 1014 should be able to be found in that area. What it may lack in some power output in more than makes up for with it's excellent pre/pro section. The 1015 is probably just out of yoru price range.

Aside from these, you should search, there may be some killer deal to be had if you dig some. But new street pricing should easily get you into a Pioneer 1014.

Panasonic XR55 is priced around $200-$250, well within your budget.

If the 1014 is available, what sort of features does it offer? Also, what is the THD ratio for it, as long as that's agreeable than that alone will sell me on that particular model. [IMG]

Oh yes, and what is the price for 1014?

I would reccommend a refurb HK 235 direct from http://www.harmanaudio.com I got mine for 298+shipping and couldn't be happier with it. Sure, you're buying refurb, but it's in perfect condition and direct from HK with a 2 year warranty. It's originally a $500 receiver.

for that price I think the panny is the best bet. The xr55 has been getting good reviews and is only about $250.

    The choice is easy:

Retailing at a mere $299 is the Onkyo TX-SR503. 7.1, with a true (20Hz-20KHz) 75 watts per channel.

    HDTV compatible component video switching.

Hmmm, i've always wanted an Onkyo and that seems perfect, component switching is also a requirment.

As of right now the 503 is the one! [IMG]

EDIT: Oh yeah! I just read a few reviews for the 503 and my search is over, thanks a bunch guy's. [IMG]

I'd really like to, but I ran into a small snag with the 503...nobody carries it! [IMG]

I called every major chain and HT store in my area and nobody even carries Onkyo products period! [IMG]

I don't buy audio equipment online, I prefer to buy those at B&M, so unless I can find someone who carries Onkyo products than I will have to move on to another name, which I don't want to do because I had my heart set on the 503. [IMG]

EDIT: Peter, regarding Nadine, don't think that it hasn't crossed my mind. [IMG]

    503 @ CC on-line for $279-$30 rebate = $249. Fry's often has it in-store for $229.

I'm going to go pick it up tomorrow! [IMG]
