I got the MadCatz extensions, 8 or 9 feet I think at a local Walmart for $4.95 each.

Keep in mind that since the xbox's ports are basically modified USB ports, you will probably have some difficulty if you wanted to chain a couple together, as the USB spec is something like a 5 meter max length or something, if you need to go longer.

I am not saying you _will_ have problems, but you could.

I didn't know that one Dave but I also would like to say that I have been using the extensions since Feb of 2002 with no apparent problems...yet.

Have you considered a wireless controller instead?

No - I meant that if you chained some extension together (eg more than one) it mgiht not work.

one extension works fine - I looked into making it farther back but decided to skip it and just move my xbox.

The Logitech wireless controller I use works perfectly. I even run it on 4.8 volts instead of 6 (using rechargeable batteries) and it works with no problems.

Quite a relief to not have to fight the cables all the time.

Not free, but not insanely pricey either. Definitely worth it if the Xbox is mounted a fair bit from the couch (mine is hooked up to the projector and long cables are a hassle).

Definitely something I could recommend instead of long extension cords.

I'll second the wireless. No cables to wrap up. No noticable performance differences. I've got the Logitech for guests and the Mad Catz for myself (I've got small, fat hands so the Logitech was way too big.)

    Doesn't wireless mean no rumble?

    I NEED rumble!
