Set your VCRs for Sunday, May 9, when ABC will air the long version of "Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone" with restored footage not seen in the theatrical release.

The caveat: It will be shown at the 'doom slot' of 7:00 PM/6:00 PM Central, which means we'll have to put up with "we'll return after these messages".

    Oh joy- 1hr of commercials.

What will be interesting is if they run the HD version OAR or open matte like HBO does.

There's not an entire hour's worth of new material, they just extended it to three hours so that they could fit in more commercials.

Actually, it is in a four-hour slot, so when you do the math it's approx. 170 min. long, plus the featurette.

Did they just add in the deleted scenes that were included on the DVD, or have they come up with some totally new footage?

They should put the ABC logo in both of the round lenses of Harry's glasses.

Very funny. If Columbus had made some nude scenes, he may have had to retitle this "Wizards Gone Wild"! (play on the infamous "Girls Gone Wild"!)

Seriously, nudity is not my cup of tea, and is something you will never find in a Potter novel or movie.

By the way, there is this interesting scene with Peeves the poltergeist that got cut from the film....I wonder if that will be restored???

OK, guys. Enough of the "naked" stuff.

I just counted the existing DVD deleted scenes and the running time totals to 8 minutes, 37 seconds.

So far, then, we have a film that roughly runs 161 minutes.

Now, if we take 180 minutes of a film that runs in a four-hour time slot and subtract the nearly 10-minute featurette on "Prisoner Of Azkaban", that leaves you 170 minutes.

Say then we further subtract 5 minutes of interview material that ABC advertised, we then have 165 minutes.

Nowadays, ABC usually "barndoors" the closing credits and runs them like crazy. Assuming then you had 8 minutes of the closing credits in the theatrical version (subtract that), then add the 2 1/2 minutes of credits ABC generates, that leaves 159 minutes. With me so far?

Plus the fact ABC may have to cut some of the film for broadcast standards.

So, in order for the extended version to run, say, 165 minutes, that would leave about six or seven minutes of new material to fill.

Maybe among those six minutes will be the Peeves sequence, plus bits and pieces of new material not on the DVD deleted scenes section.

I'll leave it to you guys to figure out the puzzle further.

Apart from the extra material; there are going to be interviews with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.

Also, there will be a 10 minute preview of 'The Prisoner of Azkaban'.
