long throw woofer?

    hi all

    alright im a spaker newbie and theres one thing thats really buging me what is a long throw driver? like ive seen subs and towers with long throw drivers what are they and whats the differance between long throw and regular?????? please help me on this and thank you in advance.

    The difference is that the driver itself has a longer travel (voice coil) and probably a larger magnet than what the particular company considers a "standard" driver. Depending on design, this tends to allow lower frequency response and often, but not always, higher SPL for the same size driver. "Throw" refers to the longer driver travel.
