I have the DIRECTV HD package as well as having an antenna in my attic for local network channels in HD. I don't get NBC or ABC that well via the antenna. Late last year, I requested DIRECTV to obtain a waiver from my local NBC affiliate so I could get the HD feed via DIRECTV - no problem - I get NBC in HD via DIRECTV. After DIRECTV started to get ABC in HD barely a couple months later, I asked them for a waiver to get it, but I was told they no longer do that as a new law was passed forbidding such waivers. I never heard of a new law like that. Is it true? Has anyone else had this issue or was DIRECTV giving me a story?

You need to look at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=515808

The net is that, for awhile, they were refusing wavers. After research, letters and responses from the FCC, etc., they will now accept wavers for HD broadcasts if the local station will sign them.

Lots and lots of detail in this AVS thread: you'll want to read it from the beginning.
