Good news from TVGuide.com:
Wait- the original broadcast was 8 hrs, right? So they are going to include more? http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/150...headlines=true
They are going to have two seperate shows; one of VH1, one on MTV. There will be some overlap (both will have Floyd for example, IIRC), but each show will have some artists exclusively. I looked at the line up, and it looks like I will see who I want to see on the VH1 broadcast, which IIRC, is on NOW! BTW, Tivo ROCKS! Brian
Aaron- I just wanted to very big Thank You for posting this. I would have missed this if you hadn't posted the info. I don't have Tivo but my Dish Network DVR is humming away recording right now.
crap! I missed it.
There were some really great performances all around. I am far from a Linkin Park fan, but the duet set with Jay Z was just awesome, they truly looked like they enjoyed playing together. Also I loved the Who, Floyed and even one of Robbie Williams songs was entertaining. Will Smith doing the Fresh Prince TV theme was good. I thought Madonna sucked, but thats just me. What was your guys favs?
I just watched the VH1 part of it. I'd say Pink Floyd's performance was my favorite. I kind of liked the one song from Orchestra Baobab. I'd never heard of them before, much less heard them, but they had a catchy beat.
Madonna....by far. Scissor Sisters and Robbie Williams.
Madonna did a great job on Ray of Light. Her perfomance of this a few years ago on an MTV awards show was an absolute train wreck, so I was not only impressed but also surprised this time around. The rest of her set was excellent, as well. To my ears, nothing is more boring than a classic rock act doing yet another version of a song they've performed at 20 other high profile events. In other words: U2 doing Vertigo = good; U2 doing One = bad. Paul McCartney doing Helter Skelter = very good; Paul McCartney doing Get Back = very bad. The Hyde Park audience seemed perplexed by Velvet Revolver, but they brought a magnificent, sleazy energy to the party. Snoop Dogg's set was a lot of fun, but I wish more of it would have made it to TV. I caught the Scissor Sisters on the XM Radio broadcast and thought they killed. Too bad they aren't big enough for VH1. Neil Young played a beautiful gospel-folk ballad, When God Made Me that also was audio only in the States. Coldplay makes me sleepy. Keane was terrific. Just looking at their singer, you know he must be talented, because... Also good: Deep Purple Pink Floyd REM Kanye West Will Smith Meh: Annie Lennox Black Eyed Peas Destiny's Child Dido Elton John Joss Stone Mariah Carey Robbie Williams [Let Me Entertain You = Vegas cornball crap] Sting Linkin Park Rob Thomas
Yeah...that was probably her worst performance EVER. She was really messed up and I'm hoping she just couldn't hear herself. In any case, since then she performed it every night on the Drowned World tour and this was the same version. They lowered the key, if you'll notice. A little easier to hit the notes than the MTV awards.
i missed it. again
I can't believe I posted this and then forgot to watch the #($*&)#([email protected]# thing!!!!!
Hm. . .it seems you and I are disagreeing less and less.
I missed again.
