Discussion in 'AV Receivers' started by Alex Kuch, Jan 11, 2006.
When people talk about lip sync in regards to receivers, what do they mean and what does it do?
Lip sync means the sound that should be coming from your speakers is a tad slower than that portrayed on your display eg on your tv Aragorn has issued the attack call and started riding his horse leading the attack but the sound from your speaks are 'attack' or something to that effect, no sound of horses hooves riding into the horizon...
Hope this sheds some light..
Alex, the phrase also refers to earlier-generation DVD players that were prone to letting the audio and video tracks lose synchronization. The solution is to hit Pause, then Stop, and then Play. Awkward, but it worked.
Thanks guys, i thought that's what it meant. You cleared it up pretty well.
