Reindeer Games: The Director's Cut Blu-ray Disc

Crime and romance collide in High Definition this March as Miramax's Reindeer Games: The Director's Cut explodes onto Blu-ray Disc for the first time from Lionsgate. Oscar® winners Ben Affleck (Best Original Screenplay, Good Will Hunting, 1997) and Charlize Theron (Best Actress in a Leading Role, Monster, 2003) team up in the non-stop action drama, directed by John Frankenheimer (Ronin). In addition to the film's HD debut, the disc also includes a behind-the-scenes featurette, audio commentary with Frankenheimer and scenes cut from the original theatrical film.

After serving six years of a sentence for grand theft auto, Rudy (Affleck) and his cellmate, Nick (James Frain, TRON: Legacy), are finally about to be paroled when Nick is killed in a prison riot. Having heard stories of Nick's letters to Ashley (Theron), a woman he's never met, Rudy assumes Nick's identity to continue the romance. But Nick's past comes at great expense to Rudy, when Ashley's brother coerces him to cooperate in a casino heist.

Blu-Ray: $14.99 March 6, 2012

This was always a guilty pleasure for me. One thing I've always noticed on the DVD release of the Director's Cut was on a lot of the scenes that were added back in there's a very obvious change in the picture from where the scene is put back in. Also, Ashton Kutcher's brief appearence is shortened. The scene in the bathroom where Ben Affleck pushes him up against the wall and offers him money to swap clothes is taken out for some reason. In the DC it shows Affleck follow Kutcher into the bathroom but then jumps to one of the other characters going into the bathroom to find they have already swapped clothes. Also, though the sex scene has more fottage overall, there were a few snipits that were cut.

Does anyone know what's going on with this? Is it out of print?

It could be. Paramount acquired the distribution rights to the Miramax library recently, so perhaps Lionsgate no longer has the rights.

Does Paramount now own Tarantino?
According to the article, the acquisition of a 49% stake in Miramax includes distribution of the Miramax library and the rights to develop new material based on existing IP, so "own" Tarantino? Not really. Distribute Tarantino's Miramax titles, including Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and the Kill Bills? Yes. Rights to Kill Bill Vol. 3? Quite likely.

Okay, it's got to be with Paramount. I saw a DVD of THE CROW (a Miramax title) at Target and it had the Paramount logo on the packaging.
