Hello...I just got a DirecTV receiver and from time to time I notice faint lines scrolling up or down the screen. The picture isn't rock-solid as I thought it would be. It doesn't happen on all channels (mainly the higher numbers like 340+) or all the time either.

Is this just my overly high expectations of great reception or is there a problem with the reception? Any help would be appreciated.

That is not normal for a DirecTv picture. I would guess it's either electrical interference or a bad connection somewhere.

Double-check the connections, try swapping some of your cables, and try using a different electrical outlet or plug into a power conditioner & see if that helps.

I used to get those lines too. Now I switched to Dish I don't see the line anymore.

Does this happen on any other sources like DVD? If so, it may be a ground loop. I have it and it goes away when I disconnect the coax from the cable company.

Just a question to Dish network owners: have you noticed that your digital artifacting has gotten really bad? I was watching footbal with a friend who has dish and the picture looked like crap.. Then I realized that they have compressed the hell out of everything to meet the local must carry law.

Don't worry, Dish Network will get more bandwidth (reducing pixelation) in April.
