I have a home theater system with all SONY components; Following are my components
    SONY Receiver STR-DA555ES
    SONY TV 61HS10
    SONY VCR 91HFM
SONY DVP-CX850D 200 DISC DVD player.

I would like to update my DVD player because it does not play MP3 and does not do progressive scan, does not play copied CDs. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Also my TV do not have ‘auto enhance’ mode and there fore while watching any ‘Anamorphic DVD’ or ‘enhance for 16X9’, I have to manually switch my TV from 4/3 to 16/9 mode to take advantage of full scan 480i (squeeze picture) line of resolutions. Is there and DVD player out there which enhance picture before sending to the TV ?. Newer Sony TV do have a ‘auto enhance’ mode which is very helpful, however my TV which is 2 ½ years old (KP61HS10) do not have this mode.

Amit, what is your budget for a DVD player? Are you looking for another megachanger, or are you open to carousel changers or single-disc players?

Amit, you might be able to get the Sony DVP-NS900V single-disc player for around $500 from Oade Bros. (1-229-228-0093 or 1-229-228-4480), J&R Music World (1-800-221-8180), or OneCall (1-800-340-4770). All three are authorized dealers. The 'NS900V is a single-disc progressive-scan player that plays stereo and multi-channel SACDs. Check www.crutchfield.com for more information on the 'NS900V. Note that Crutchfield is pricey. Finally, the 'NS900V is the only Sony DVD player that runs about $500.

Thanks for the info., If I increase my budget, let say $800, Is there any DVD player outthere, which also does 'auto enhance' becasue my TV do not have ‘auto enhance’ mode and there fore while watching any ‘Anamorphic DVD’ or ‘enhance for 16X9’, I have to manually switch my TV from 4/3 to 16/9 mode to take advantage of full scan 480i (squeeze picture) line of resolutions. Amit, for some reason, I think the Panasonic DVD-RP91 does this. It runs about $500 by mail (e.g., J&R Music World). Do a search for the 'RP91, as this player has gotten plenty of attention here.
