My theater room is unfortunately also my living room. Its pretty small, about 20'x14'. We just repainted the walls a dark wine color and installed wood flooring. I need to add lighting for both ambient lighting and general task lighting and originally wanted to install 6 4" recessed halogen lights in the cieling but the cieling is a insulated and partial floored attic. The problem is that the only lights I can find at my local home centers that can come in contact with insulation are 6" and Im afraid that will look too big. Any suggestions for lights that might work for me and where I can get them?

Hi Lane,

Progress Lighting makes 4" and 5" direct contact housings. They are not remodel housings though, so you would need to open the ceiling. Too bad the remodel housings are non-contact. I just installed 21 of the 4" direct contact housings with 50 watt halogen bulbs in my theater. My ceiling was not finished though. Good luck.
