With the recent theatrical re-release of Life of Brian, have there been any rumblings of a re-release of the DVD? The criterion disc is nice, but a more modestly priced disc would be really nice to have.

There is a more modestly priced dvd from Anchor Bay Entertainment. But it's also a more modest dvd because there's hardly any extra features while the Criterion release is stacked.

Also, the old AB release is non-anamorphic. I bought the Criterion just for the 16x9 transfer (which looked pretty decent)-I thought it was worth it.

I saw the new 35MM print last week and I've gotta say, it wasn't much of an improvement over the Criterion DVD. So I am going to guess that, without restoration, it is the best the film can look given the source materials.

The Criterion DVD is stacked.... just get it, it's great! (there's a bunch of commentaries by the Pythons, deleted scenes, and a great doc) [IMG]
