Someone elsewhere leaked the full October TRSTS figures - these are basically the "sales charts" for the US, for the main consoles. They don't cover the full market - Walmart don't give sales figures out for example, though NPD factor them in by survey results etc... No GBA or PC, just "console". Figures are for upto 31st October with cumulative being 95-02.

A good mate in the UK sent these "factoids" from it - he's a statistician programmer type thing & eats up huge chunks of data for fun. I don't have the full data myself so don't ask me for it!

Gamespot just posted last weeks sales here.
PS Brian, I love your signature quote. Did some anonymous person really write that in your guest book, or was it a joke?

Thats curious. GC numbers for the top five of the month are pretty much on a par with the XBox ones, give or take a few thousand either way on each position. However, on multiplatform titles no-one wants the GC version. Certainly, all five of the GC titles are exclusives to that platform.

Is this an indication that the GC is commonly bought as a second platform, or just that GC owners don't like Sports games? Its interesting to note that the one exception on the multiplatform rule is SSX Tricky, a game that is more like a racing game (and bears a similarity with the legendary 1080) than other sports titles.

Oh, I agree Romier. I bought my GC when I already had a PS2 because it wasn't supplying the sort of games that the GC does well. Similiarly, while my GC gets the most play, I get the PS2 out when I want to play driving or shooting games. Its a really nice pair of machines to own, while the XBox seems to be 'more of the same' to the average PS2 owner.

Oops - thats what I meant Kevin. My PS2 hasn't even been unpacked since I boxed it up to lend to my brother over a month ago. I just meant that more GC owners seem to be multi-console households than is the case for other platforms.

I think the memory card plays a little role to, as people try to conserve space on the gc's tiny cards(especially sports games)

I've always wondered just how much Wal-Mart's slice of sales was, since it's not included in these reports (except for the "polling") & it's such a popular retailer. There's an interesting article at Wired about Wal-Mart & their refusal to carry certain games that is worth reading. Included in the article is this quote:

I dunno about Deathrow, but exceptions will be made when there's stacks of money involved.

I will say this though: Stuffmart wouldn't have done a damn thing if the developers had not bragged so much about there being nudity in there. Stuffmart will turn a blind eye for a buck (and I suspect they are mostly clueless anyway), but when it is thrown in their face, what else can they do? It would be like the Rockstar going around wagging tongues about how you can jack up multiple cops with a shotgun and walk away (you can do it, they just don't brag about it) in GTA:VC. If they did that and got it in Time Magazine, I'm sure Stuffmart would have banned that title too despite the sales potential. They can get more milage out of a ban than they would from selling the title if it is covered enough in the press. After all, aren't we all sitting around talking about it right now?
