LG has introduced a new Ultra Short Throw (UST) laser projector, the HU915QE, following hot on the heels of the February launch of the LG HU715Q. No word on pricing yet (but is expected soon), and the product will be available this quarter. Described as the company’s “flagship home cinema solution”, it can produce a 90-inch image at 5.6 centimeters, or 120 inches at 18.3 centimeters from the wall.
The unit can achieve a claimed 3,700 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio via a three-channel laser technology, which uses a separate light source for each primary (RGB) color. As well as 4K content playback with HDR dynamic tone mapping, an onboard brightness optimizer automatically adjusts levels according to ambient light conditions.
