LG Partners with Meridian on High-Performance Audio Solutions
LG Electronics and Meridian Audio have announced they're joining forces to deliver high performance audio 'to more consumers around the world'. LG's award-winning award-winning and innovative consumer electronics will couple with Meridian's unrivaled sound technology to deliver unique solutions to consumers and 'a supreme entertainment experience'.
No doubt more information will arise at CES 2018 in January, but the two companies have said they will collaborate on a number of LG product categories including soundbars and wireless speakers.
LG has a long history of developing audio products for global consumers, and the partnership with UK company Meridian will raise the bar on acoustic performance and authentic sound derived from their well-known and rigorous research and development.
LG was the first Korean brand to produce radios for domestic use, but also has a long history of developing a wide portfolio of audio and visual home devices. Meanwhile, Meridian Audio, which was founded 40 years ago, has continuously driven the audio industry forward as a pioneer of high-performance, high-fidelity audio, and was the creator of the world's first digital active loudspeaker. The company is also an undisputed authority on Digital Signal Processing (DSP), and it played an integral role in the development and adoption of revolutionary audio technologies, such as Hi-Res Audio and MQA (Master Quality Authenticated).
"This partnership with Meridian is an example of LG's commitment to creating premium audio systems that can rival the best in the business," said Seo Young-jae, head of CAV (Convergence Audio and Video) products at LG Home Entertainment Company. "This partnership is all about delivering an outstanding entertainment experience for LG customers worldwide."
John Buchanan, chief executive at Meridian Audio added, "We are thrilled to have entered into this unique partnership with LG and confident that our expertise and shared values will see us bring a great number of innovations to the market together, both now and in the future."
It's interesting to note that LG had formerly partnered with HARMAN to develop audio systems for LG's range of flat-panel displays, but the relationship was sure to flounder after Samsung's acquisition of HARMAN in March of this year.
