LG DVD RECEIVER HT503 - can't get surround tv ps4 (1 Viewer)

Hi my 1st question to home theater forum

Can this receiver be used to make my tv & ps4 play in surround sound ? I can only seem to play the dvd (built in to the receiver ) in surround through its 5.1 speakers.

If i can't have them all set up through the receiver maybe you could advise me of a good priced 3d blue ray player that would have enough outputs/inputs to link the tv and ps4 through?

That has a digital optical input.

The PS4 has an optical output.

You hook up your PS4 for surround sound. That is your only option considering what you chose to purchase.

Ok cheers schan. In which case as part of what the title suggests, if anyone can recommend a 3d blue ray player that would do what i want for a decent price i would appreciate it. LG Or Panasonic

Is your original DVD disc not equipped with 5.1 dolby dogital sound?
