If you have never seen an OLED display, you are missing out on some wonderful tech. OLED has incredible contrast ratio without the use of LED based zones.

OLED is not cheap to manufacture due to the low yield rates and many have bowed out entirely from making OLED displays (last big announcement was Panasonic and Sony calling it quits).

Well, LG has now has a $1,999 55" curved OLED TV (after $500 instant rebate). While I am NOT a fan of curved TV's as it distorts the picture, LG does have a flat 55" for $2,999 after a $1K rebate.

Below are the details of the four displays that are having price reductions:

EF9500 Series Flat OLED 4K Ultra HD TVs
--55-inch 55EF9500 reduced from $5,499 to $3,999, plus $1,000 instant rebate available through the end of 2015, for a net price of $2,999.
--65-inch 65EF9500 reduced from $6,999 to $5,999, plus $1,000 instant rebate, for a net $4,999.
EG9600 Series Art Slim Curved OLED 4K TVs
--55-inch 55EG9600 moves from $5,499 to $3,999, plus $1,000 instant rebate, for a net $2,999.
--65-inch 65EG9600 move from $6,999 to $5,999, plus $1,000 instant rebate, for a net $4,999.
You might want to to go your local dealer and get a look at one of the flat screen models. You probably will walk away with a new display with those inky blacks!

Definitely interested in OLED but the display units at BB have definitely not impressed me. Nice blacks on em, but the other PQ elements didn't match the better FALD displays I have seen, especially not at the price points they were asking. I'd love to see one setup in a calibrated home environment but so far the sales floors have actually turned me OFF to the LG OLEDs instead of convincing me I want one.

I don't think this bodes well for the future of OLED.

Just saw this news and I agree. I fully support OLED technology as I believe it has the greatest image quality potential, but when LG is the only one left manufacturing OLED panels it's a race to the bottom.

Isn't the Panasonic just going to be a re-badged LG?

Panasonic claims to be reworking multiple LG components to make for a (supposedly) better panel.

Good news that other manufacturers like Panasonic will be selling OLED televisions, even if they use other manufacturers parts (as they have always done). The sooner OLED goes mainstream the better and I hope they displace LCD soon. I expect my next TV will be an OLED 4K.

Hope it's ok to post this here, but I wanted to give forum members a heads-up on the expiration of LG's $1k discount on there 4K OLED TVs. Please delete or move this post if it's not allowed.

Just 24 hrs to go before all Flat and Curved 55" and 65" LG 4K OLED TV prices go up $1,000.

On Saturday, December 26, 2015 LG's $1,000 instant rebate ends so the 55EF9500 will go up to $3,999 and the 65EF9500 will sell for $5,999. So for anyone on the fence this is your window of opportunity to take advantage of LG's last day of LG's $1k discount. This effects all authorized LG dealers and even non authorized dealers costs.

We're staying open Saturday to immediately process all orders to beat the deadline. So call your favorite authorized dealer :) to get your order placed no later than Saturday, December 26th. Our company and most other authorized dealers are extending 1 year interest free financing and we still have our additional 10% store credit for any LG OLED order.

If we miss anyone you can PM or email me and I'll process all orders that come in by midnight on Saturday, 12/26. We can process the payment Monday, but the order must be placed by the end of 12/26/15

Happy Holidays to all!

Thanks Sam! I saved 4 65EF9500 and 1 55EF9500 at the discount price and will offer them to members of advanced a/v forums exclusively with the extra $1k discount and of course our 10% store credit.

Tomorrow all authorized dealers will be increasing the 55EF9500, 55EG9600, 65EF9500 and 65EG9600 by $1,000 each. So the price goes to $3,999 for the 55" 4K OLED and $5,999 for the 65" 4K OLED TVs.

Happy New Year!

-Robert
